New to Skating?

Learn to Skate Lessons
We receive a lot of questions from new skaters wanting to know how to get started. Whether you are a Tot (ages 3 & 4), or 5+ years of age, the most appropriate place to begin to acquire basic skating skills is through Learn to Skate lessons offered by Body Zone

Aspire Program
Once a skater completes all the Basic Skills levels in the Learn to Skate program and is ready to take the next step, they can join the Reading Figure Skating Club’s Aspire program. This program is taught by our Club coaches and provides small group instruction where skaters can continue to develop their skills and work on more advanced skating, artistry, jumps, and spins.

Private Lessons
Once a skater is committed to continuing their training, they may want to consider private lessons. A private coach helps prepare skaters for testing, competitions, and exhibitions. Our club coaches, who you have gotten to know working through our Aspire program, are available for private and semi-private lessons. You must contact a coach directly to arrange for and pay for private lessons. Please note you must pay for your Ice time separately from your private lesson fee to the coach.

Skating Practice (Freestyle)
The Reading Figure Skating Club purchases ice time and provides Freestyle (figure skating practice) sessions for its members to practice and take private lessons. For more information about the Club’s Freestyle sessions please review our Ice Descriptions and Rates for more information.
